Congressman Yakym Votes to Support Strong, Lethal U.S. Military

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024:

“‘Providing for the common defense’ is one of our most important constitutional obligations. With rapidly growing threats coming from Communist China and elsewhere, making sure we have a fighting force that is second to none and laser-focused on mission readiness and lethality – not a divisive political agenda – has never been more important. Fortunately, the NDAA we passed out of the House today accomplishes these objectives and is the strongest defense bill since the Reagan years.

“This NDAA gives our servicemen and women a well-deserved pay raise, increases funding to counter and deter Communist China’s aggression, and includes important accountability measures to crack down on waste at the Pentagon and ensure Americans’ tax dollars are being well-spent. It also pushes back against Democrats’ left-wing policies by prohibiting taxpayer-funded abortion and repealing divisive identity politics initiatives.

“I sincerely hope President Biden and Senate Democrats put our military needs above their partisan wish list by taking up this NDAA in its current form.”
