Yakym Joins Colleagues in Standing With Israel, Condemning Hamas

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) issued the following statement after cosponsoring a bipartisan House Resolution that affirms Congress’ support for Israel and unequivocally condemns Hamas’ unprovoked and barbaric attacks on innocent Israelis, including the slaughtering of women and children: 

“Over the past few days the civilized world has watched with horror as Hamas and other Iranian-backed terrorists have launched a barbaric and unprovoked war on Israel.

“In this trying hour, Congress needs to speak with one, loud, and clear voice in supporting our friend and ally Israel as they defend themselves, protect their people, and bring these terrorist thugs to justice.

“I am proud to join my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in condemning Hamas’ barbarism and standing with Israel as they fight and win this war.”

Background: Included in the resolution is language that:

• Reaffirms Israel’s right to self-defense and condemns Hamas’ brutal war on Israel;
• Condemns Iran’s support for terrorist groups like Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad;
• Urges full enforcement of U.S. sanctions against Iran to prevent Iran’s funding of groups such as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad;
• Resolves the U.S. stands ready to assist Israel with emergency resupply and other security, diplomatic, and intelligence support.
