Yakym Honors LaPorte County Deputy Shot in the Line of Duty

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Wednesday, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) took to the House floor to honor LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jon Samuelson, who was shot three times in the line of duty after stopping to help a stranded motorist on May 22nd.

“Deputy Jon Samuelson is a hero. Without hesitation, he put his life on the line to protect someone else’s. There is a profound and dangerous line that separates chaos from civilization — most of us will never see it. Men and women like Deputy Samuelson stand on it every single day so the rest of us don’t have to,” said Rep. Yakym. “Sallyann and I, and Hoosiers across Indiana, stand with his wife, Quinn, and the entire Samuelson family as Jon recovers. May God continue to place His healing hand on him.”
