Yakym, Arrington Launch Budget Process Reform Task Force
The Task Force Within the House Budget Committee Will Work to Overhaul Washington’s Broken Budget Process
Washington, D.C. – Today, House Budget Committee Member Congressman Rudy Yakym (R-IN) and House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) launched the new Budget Process Reform Task Force, which will be led by Congressman Yakym.
The Budget Process Reform Task Force will lead the Committee’s work on fixing Washington’s broken budget process, examining ways to increase transparency, accountability, and responsibility in fiscal decision-making within Congress. The work produced by the Task Force will be included in the ongoing bipartisan discussions with our Budget Committee colleagues in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
“The greatest long-term threat to our stability and economic prosperity is our unsustainable national debt. I am proud to partner with Chairman Arrington on leading the Budget Process Reform Task Force so we can advance solutions that bend down the spending curve and change the trajectory of our fiscal outlook for the better. Going forward, I look forward to continuing the discussion and garnering additional feedback about how we can ensure greater enforcement of the budget processes we have in place as well as implement reforms where needed so this place better serves the American people and uses taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars more wisely,” Task Force Chairman Yakym said.
Members of the Task Force include:
- Rep. Rudy Yakym (R-IN) [Task Force Chair]
- Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA)
