Tax Day is almost here. For a lot of families, that used to mean anxiety: scrambling for documents, bracing for a bill, or hoping the refund was enough to matter. This year is different.

Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts passed by President Trump and House Republicans, Hoosiers filing their returns this spring are seeing real results. Bigger refunds. More money in their pockets. A tax code that finally works for the people who built this country.

Indiana’s Second District is the manufacturing capital of America. The men and women who work on our floors, run our small businesses, and keep our supply chains moving have always done their part. Washington has not always returned the favor. This legislation starts to change that.

This tax season, Americans are seeing some of the biggest refunds in years, with the IRS tracking an average refund of $3,512. Middle-income working families are receiving meaningful cuts across the board, and for many households, that adds up to thousands more in take-home pay every year. The vast majority of the relief goes to everyday working families, not those at the top.

The relief is also built to last. The standard deduction, used by nine out of ten American taxpayers, has been permanently doubled. Lower tax rates are locked in for good. No tax on tips. No tax on overtime. No tax on auto loan interest. Seniors receive an expanded deduction. And the small business deduction has been made permanent, so Main Street operators across the district can keep more of what they earn.

Tax Day has a reputation for stress. This year, for a lot of Hoosiers, it deserves a different one. The Working Families Tax Cuts are not a promise for the future. They are already showing up in refunds and paychecks right now.

Hardworking Hoosiers and Americans built this country. House Republicans are making sure the tax code starts showing it.
