Congressman Yakym Statement on Radical Manhattan D.A. Politically Motivated Indictment Decision

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) issued the following statement after New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s politically motivated decision to indict former President Trump: 

“Weaponizing state power to target political opponents is the stuff of banana republics, not the greatest nation on Earth. “Every American should be alarmed and troubled by today’s politically motivated announcement at the hands of a radical, progressive prosecutor who allows violent criminals to have free rein on the streets of New York. This deeply misguided decision will only further erode trust in our core civic institutions and electoral system.
 
“Going forward, cooler heads –not partisan politics – must prevail so that we can maintain Americans’ faith in equal justice and the rule of law tradition so essential to our constitutional republic.”
