Congressman Yakym Celebrates Announcement of $3 Billion EV Investment in St. Joe County
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) issued the following statement on today’s announcement of a new $3 billion electric vehicle battery cell plant coming to St. Joseph County. The new battery cell plant – the largest electric vehicle investment in state history – is a joint venture between General Motors and Samsung SDI, and will be built in New Carlisle. The plant is scheduled to begin operations in 2026 and will create 1,700 manufacturing jobs.
