John Glenn High School Student’s Artwork Will Be Displayed In U.S. Capitol for a Year
South Bend, Ind. – Today, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) announced Nina Foresman, a student at John Glenn High School in Walkerton, as the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Indiana’s Second District. Nina’s winning artwork, “Goat,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the next year alongside other winners from across the country.
Congressman Yakym congratulated the winner on Saturday at a reception held at the South Bend International Airport for students who submitted entries and their teachers. Second place was awarded to Joshua Westfall, also a student at John Glenn High School. His artwork, “Lady,” will be displayed in Congressman Yakym’s Mishawaka District Office for the next year.
April Pressler, a local teacher, served as the judge for this year’s competition. The St. Joseph County Airport Authority served as the facility host of the competition and reception.
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to recognize the artistic talents of high school students in their districts. Since then, more than 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
